DYSON VS. SHARK VACUUM

Let’s talk vacuums! One of the most used house cleaning products. I mean seriously, if you have kids, you’re probably reaching for it 2-3 times a day!

I often get asked about what I prefer when it comes to vacuums, so I thought I would compare two of the leading brands on the market right now…the Cordless Dyson 10 and the Cordless Shark Rocket Pro.

To be honest, these both are amazing options to have in your home! However, they do have some differences. We will be comparing function, weight, charge life, suction, and price point.

So, let’s see how these suckers face off…

Cordless Dyson 10

Function: Easy to use. You have to hold down the power button while vacuuming.

Weight: 5.9 LBs

Charge: Does require charging and the Dyson does have a longer run time than the Shark.

Suction: Very Strong

Price point: $699 – $750 CAD – not as budget friendly

Cordless Shark Rocket Pro

Function: Easy to use. The Shark has a simple on/off switch.

Weight: 7.17 LBs – so 2 pounds heavier than the Dyson

Charge: Does require charging. Doesn’t hold a charge as well as the Dyson.

Suction: Moderate

Price point: $269 - $330 – for sure easier on the wallet.

Notable Mentions: both the Shark and the Dyson have a light on the front to see in dark corners and catch those small crumbs you might miss! If you are a fan of attachments, Dyson offers more options here!

All in all, you can’t go wrong with either of these. However, the Dyson does have the bang for the buck! It’s just depending on how vacuum use ranks in your home and how much you are willing to spend.

Keep in mind, corded vacuums typically have more suction than cordless and have longer cleaning time, which is why at Lemon and Pine we use the corded lightweight Shark Pro. The cordless ones can lose suction over time as the battery starts to deplete. The thing I love about the Shark we use is the extra-long cord, it breaks in 3 sections for stairs, reaching hard spots with the pole and then regular vacuuming. It’s lightweight so it’s easy on our backs and it does an excellent job. Just another option to consider!
