what are the germiest spots in your home?
When not cleaned frequently your home can be a safe haven for all those nasty germs. As professional cleaners here in the Fraser Valley, we know germs and where they love to hide out.
Here are the top five germiest spots in your home and some tips (straight from the experts) on how to keep on top of them.
#1: THE KITCHEN
The kitchen is the dirtiest out of all the rooms in your house! It’s why we spend the most time there. The sponges and dish rags are ranked #1 for the germiest in the whole house so those need to be replaced regularly. That’s why I like to use wood scrub brushes for my dishes instead. Tip: you can also throw the sponges in microwave or dishwasher to disinfect.
Another way to make those germs be gone, replace your dish towels a few times a week and ALWAYS use a fresh one to dry dishes!
Lastly, don’t forget about the refrigerator handle, think how many people touch that how many times a day…gross! So, keep those wiped down with a multipurpose spray DAILY and might as well buff up the stainless while your at is to give it that sparkle!
#2 : BATHROOMS
The bathroom floor is actually dirtier than your toilet!! Why? Because all the germs scatter through the air after each flush and then fall to the ground. The bathroom light switch and toothbrush holders is another one so keep those clean people. Tip: replace your toilet brushes every 6 months and have one in every bathroom so your not carrying it from room to room spreading germs.
#3: THE LIVING ROOM
The TV remote and video games controllers yuck…HIGH germ spot. Sanitize those regularly!
The carpet is another one that needs to be vacuumed a lot, all the germs like to hide in there. Tip: you can sprinkle baking soda mixed with essential oils on your carpet and let sit for an hour and then vacuum up. Disinfected!!
#4: YOUR MAKEUP BAG
Didn’t see this one coming, hey? Clean your make up bags out, throw out expired makeup and clean those brushes. Once a week wash them with warm soapy water and spray with alcohol then sit out to dry. Tip: I like to keep my makeup in the drawer or cupboard to keep more of the germs off. Especially now that you know what happens when the toilet gets flushed!
#5: PERSONAL ITEMS
Cell phone, keys, wallet, key board and ALL electronics. We touch these daily and they need to be kept clean. Use an alcohol wipe, it only takes a couple mins. Tip: get the kids to help it’s an easy one for them
